Norma's Pizza a la Parrilla Restaurant is now open at Orizaba 26A, Col. San Antonio!

Longtime readers of this website saw it coming, and now Norma's Pizza a la Parrilla restaurant is open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 1 pm to 9 pm. Location is Orizaba 26A, Col. San Antonio, between 28 de Abril and Refugio. Our sign is in the photos above, along with one of Norma's pizzas. Phone is 152-6393 during open hours.

What is different about Norma's pizzas is that they're a la parrilla--on the grill, not baked in an oven. A big Weber BBQ is used to turn a thin herbed crust into a lightly charred and crunchy crust unlike any other in San Miguel!  Many ingredients are grilled as well--the fresh portabellos, eggplant, sweet red peppers and onions.

Norma makes her own pesto from basil (61 plants are growing on our roof and patios plus we're always scouring the local organic markets for more). Carol also makes a spinach pesto as the basis for the grilled veggie pizza. Norma couldn't find Italian sausage to her liking so she's experimented to find her own version. And she's come up with not only her versions of traditional favorites but international gourmet pizzas you won't find anywhere else in San Miguel.

Carol is the cookie maker--you probably won't find homemade gingersnaps anyplace else in Mexico! And there's a "monster cookie," so named because it has everything you can imagine in it--peanut butter, oatmeal, chocolate chips and M&Ms.  The cookies that don't come out a perfect shape go into Norma's homemade ice creams, as well as other flavors: butter pecan, dried cranberry and walnut, and a Mexican chocolate with espresso ice cream.

Two salads complement the pizzas, a mixed green salad with sweet basil vinaigrette, and a Fatoosh with the fresh taste of mint that is especially good with the Moroccan pizza.
